Brussels Best Exporters First Prize Award

On June 28 June, SatADSL won first prize at the Brussels Best Exporters 2017. Presented by the Brussels public authorities, this award recognizes the work of SatADSL as a provider of satellite communication services – even in the most remote and rural areas.

This edition is already the fourth of the Brussels Best Exporters, organized by Brussels Invest & Export, the foreign trade and foreign investment department of the Brussels Region Public Service (BRPS). The goal is to reward and promote the most remarkable Brussels achievements abroad. The presentation evening of this fourth edition took place at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar) on June 28, in the presence of Cécile Jodogne, the Brussels State Secretary for Foreign Trade, and the entire international economic and trade attaché network of Brussels Invest & Export. SatADSL was one of six nominated enterprises on 32 candidates and took the top step of the podium in the services category.

On behalf of all employees of SatADSL, Thierry Eltges, chief executive officer, is “particularly proud to receive this acknowledgment for our efforts on the international stage since we founded the company in 2010. We started off offering IP connectivity in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the support of the European Space Agency. Gradually, we have expanded into North Africa and the Middle East and are now targeting other parts of the world. As a Brussels-based company, we are aware that our success abroad is linked to our desire to constantly evolve our business model and our services – taking into account operational realities. These realities vary greatly depending on the region and the type of client, not only because of the specific needs of the latter but also due to local legislation. Our flexibility and both the implementation speed and simplicity of our solutions have contributed to the success that we are experiencing today.”

Caroline De Vos, chief operating officer and in charge of public relations, also explains the expansion of this Brussels SME by the fact that “we not only provide IP connectivity – in other words Satellite Internet access – but also custom-made services tailored to fit the real needs of each client. We offer various types of subscriptions but our real strength lies in the platform we developed. This allows us to interconnect the hubs of different manufacturers – and thus expand satellite coverage with new satellites – in an extremely fast and simple way. We are targeting to extend to all platforms and to work with most providers.”

Michel Dothey, chief commercial officer, confirms that “since its creation, SatADSL has continued to develop new projects and expand its client base. To date, we have seen an average annual growth of 25%. This increase is due in particular to the sale of more voluminous subscriptions following our recent, most significant development: creating our new Internet platform. Developed with the support of the European Space Agency, market players are enthusiastic about. This platform was the missing link in our industry. It is extremely innovative: no one has done this before!”

Today, SatADSL has more than fifteen employees: the five founders, who take on the management positions; the technical team in charge of IT support and network architecture & programming; two administration and finance officers; and three employees in the sales department. There is no doubt that this first prize awarded on June 28 will allow SatADSL to open new doors internationally.
